Jamie Jupiter spins magic with his thought provoking lyrics and warm fun filled performances. His music has been likened to the chilled out folk-rock of Jack Johnson and blues tinged pop of John Mayer.
Bob Dylan would be jealous however of Jamie’s harmonica playing, which usually raises the cinders from the ceiling. As a multi-instrumentalist he impresses with stylish guitar as well as an array of African instruments and percussion. He is able to play them all at once when he uses his loop-pedal, which allows him to layer sounds on stage, making for a very pleasant ambient experience.
Jamie Jupiter has established himself as a songwriter and prefers to play his original compositions, but is not afraid to pepper his sets with a few cover songs.
Jamie has been around the block and earned his place of respect among a very wide range of musicians and musical shows. From touring the UK, USA and Canada, Reunion island and Germany with “The African Music Workshop Ensemble”, to being a member of glam-rock sensation “The Honeymoon Suites” in the 90's. His band Mothercity Mojo, have delighted audiences since 2006 at venues around the Cape with their skilled musicianship. His legendary harmonica sound has been used to enhance film soundtracks and Albums, such as the Afrikaans feature: “Stuur Groete Aan Mannetjies Roux” and the new Radio Rats album.
Most recently Jamie has taken to singing in Afrikaans in a show called 'Korreltjie Kantel" with Luna Paige and Nick Turner, focusing on the love affair between Ingrid Jonker and Andre Brink.
