Cindy Alter
As front lady of bands including Clout, Zia and Alter Irving, her 4-decade music career has been packaged with no fewer than 13 albums and has taken her to all corners of the globe including Germany, Holland, England and America.
Cindy is also a published poet and spent 15 years living and working on the music scene in Los Angeles. She returned to South Africa after beating leukemia.
Cindy currently resides in Johannesburg and is a full-time working musician who continues to perform and record and release new music.
Cindy has performed in Cape Town and is available for gigs both here and in Johannesburg. She is also a motivational speaker, she has a massive and hugely inspirational story to tell. She released her self-penned autobiography entitled ‘No Substitute’ in June, 2015 and her solo CD, titled ‘Faith & Fire’ the same month.
On a personal front, Cindy survived a physically and emotionally abusive relationship and successfully won her battle against leukaemia, now having been cancer-free for the best part of 13 years.
Cindy serves as an inspiration to many. To women when it comes to having had the courage to walk away from years of abuse. To cancer sufferers and survivors with her strong message of hope. To musicians young and old who listen attentively to her stories of rock‘n’roll, and have learned from her fatal mistakes, making themselves open to her solid and authoritative guidance and mentorship.
Cindy’s message portrayed in her talks, is to inspire people to do “more than survive, but to thrive.” The tenacity of the human spirit is evident in the way she has lived her life, and survived huge challenges, hoping that people are inspired by her messages, and if she can touch one person’s life through her motivational talks, then it is job done.
